My self-reflection

Volunteering make us learn many new things that changes our mind about special needs people.

First of all, we gained a lot of experience and learn more about special needs people Zayed Higher Organization in Abu Dhabi that takes care about special needs people and try to diagnose every situation of special needs people and try to make them creative and educate them fundamental things that can be useful for them in their life.

Despite that, we had an interesting time we had a volunteering program at ZHO. Also, we learn useful things from handicap people. For example, special needs people have a kind behaviour and they don't like to hurt anyone. They like to do their work totally and they don't like anybody to do their own work.

In the other hand, some of them are talented and very creative so when see them do some talents that they have, you can't tell that he is a handicap. For example, we played football match with ZHO students and it was a funny and interesting match. But one thing that make us wonder which that one of special needs students is a professional player like club players. We couldn't take the football from him, he was fast and has a good fitness that helps him to play professionally.

Secondly, volunteering program changed my mind about special needs people. They are part from our society and we should give them chance to be creative and we should communicate with a good behaviour and give them chance to tell anything that they feel.

Also, we learned from them how to be patient by feeling that we have a good health and we not suffering from anything in our body, so we should thank god for everything that he gave us. Furthermore, volunteering program motivates me to an active volunteer by going any community service organization and start to be a part of society by doing activities that are useful for the society and try be a successful man.

Finally, I am thinking to do some new activities and programs for special needs people to higher their performance in doing their work and also to improve themselves in communicating with society members.

project - 4th day in ZHO

16/16 Hours - 4/05/2014

In the fourth day in ZHO, we went to the supervisor as usual to know what we will going to do. After that we went to the mechanical workshop. And we met our local instructor for the time. He was explaining some parts that related to the mechanics to the students and we joined them. For example, he was explaining about valves that are part of the car engine. Also, we had a simple practical work that was related to the lesson.

While the class finished, we had an interesting match versus ZHO team. It was really interesting and funny match. Finally, we took a photo with them and we advised them to do their best in their work and to be quiet and respectful in communicating with their instructors and staff. It was really a great day.

project - 3nd day in ZHO

12/16 Hours - 30/04/2014

In the third day in ZHO, we surprised to see Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed visiting ZHO but unfortunately we didn’t meet him personally. After that, we had an interesting program in a new workshop. It was the carpentry workshop and we start our work by helping the students to finish their work. Also, we educated them some proper ways to cut equal parts of wood, fitting the screws in the proper place, and choosing the suitable screw for each object. Despite this, carpentry workshop students are very kind and funny. They like to make you smile hole of the time and they love their instructor very much and respect him.

When we finished the workshop class, we went to the music hall and dance with our friends. Also, we played with them some interesting games. It was really interesting day.

THE SECOND DAY IN Z.H.O.

8/16 Hours - 27/04/2014

In the second day at ZHO, we had an interesting program. At the beginning of the day, we had a football match versus ZHO team. It was an interesting match and we end with score of 7-7. After that, we went to the wood workshop to see what they are doing. Then, we went to the welding workshop and we started the hard work there. We cooperate with the instructor and the students to organize the equipment and the tools in the workshop. Also, we separated a big amount of mixed nuts, plus sign screws, minus sign screws, and bolts and we put every type of them in different boxes to make the workshop well organized and look tidy and clean. At the end of the day, we made a birthday party for our creative student who is Salem ALbolooshi and we ate some cake and we shared it with our handicap friends in the workshop.

project - 1st day in ZHO

THE FIRST DAY IN Z.H.O.

4/16 Hours - 20/04/2014

In the first day of our volunteering work, we met Ms. Fatima ALhameli which is the supervisor of students who come from collages to volunteer in ZHO. She is very helpful woman and cooperative. Then we went to the auditorium to get the instructions and warning in working and communicating with some groups of handicaps.  After that, we met Mr. Rajaa who is the supervisor of the workshops in the organization. He reminds us of the important safety rules inside the workshops. Then we went to many workshops like the electronic workshop. It is one of the most interesting workshops and Mr. Rajaa explained to us the goal of this workshop and we looked at some works of the handicap students. Also, he showed us a project that they are working on it in these days which is recycling light bulbs and make it usable without spending money on buying new light bulbs. Also, we went to the wood workshop and all other workshops with Mr. Rajaa and he showed us how do they work and he also showed us the achievements of handicaps who work in workshops. It was really wonderful. Finally, every one of us should choose a workshop to work on it the next days and I choose wood workshop because I like these manual types of workshops. That was our first day in ZHO.
